SJCC Film Festival - Fourth Edition

Theme: The Future of Storytelling

Official Theme Statement

Storytelling has always been at the heart of human expression. From cave paintings and oral traditions to cinema, digital media, and immersive technologies, the ways we create and share stories continue to evolve. As emerging technologies reshape creative possibilities and audience experiences, new forms of narrative are transforming how humanity communicates, remembers, and imagines. Through the theme "The Future of Storytelling," SJCC Film Festival 2026 invites filmmakers, artists, scholars, and audiences to explore the next chapter of narrative innovation while celebrating the enduring power of human stories.

The Next Frame of Human Expression reflects this journey—where creativity, technology, culture, and human emotion converge to shape the future of storytelling.

About SJCC Film Festival

In connection with the twentieth anniversary of St. Joseph College of Communication, Changanassery, we have initiated an annual film festival. The fourth edition will be held on September 16, 17, 18, 2026. The festival will feature a diverse selection of short films, animations, and feature films carefully curated and moderated by renowned filmmakers and our faculty to create a rich and immersive cinematic experience.

Our festival celebrates the art of filmmaking and champions value-based video productions that embody both aesthetic appeal and technological excellence. It serves as a platform for filmmakers worldwide to showcase their creativity and skills.

We believe in the transformative power of films to inspire, educate, and transform. Our festival is not merely a showcase of films but also a forum for filmmakers, artists, and enthusiasts to converge, engage in dialogue, and exchange ideas. We are committed to fostering a filmmaking culture grounded in values, ethics, and social responsibility.

Our festival features a diverse array of films, including short films, feature films, documentaries, and animations. Our selection committee, comprising seasoned industry professionals, ensures that the films screened meet our stringent criteria for quality and artistic merit.

In addition to film screenings, we organize workshops, panel discussions, and master classes, providing aspiring filmmakers with opportunities to learn from industry experts. The festival also serves as a networking hub, facilitating connections within the film community.
